The "Paris-Saclay Ultrafast X-ray and Attosecond Science School" is a biannual thematic school organized by the Institute for the Sciences of Light at Paris-Saclay University, in collaboration with the "The Frontiers of Attosecond and Ultrafast X-ray Science School" in Erice, Italy. Antonio Mazzarone and Domenico Compagnini attended the School presenting posters entitled "Correlative Ultrafast EUV Microscopy and Transient Reflectivity of Functionalized Nanoparticles Supracrystals” and “Design and Implementation of in-line diagnostics for real-time ultrafast EUV ptychography”. LUXEM participates to INFN's project LAB2GO with a Lab Showcase. LAB2GO aims to support High Schools towards the improvement of their laboratory facilities, as well as to promote UNIPV Physics Department and ongoing research activities therein.

LUXEM opens its facility to showcase laboratory & research to High School students with practical demonstrations. A wonderful opportunity to disseminate our research to young prospective students in Physics and Photonics.

Nicola Giani presented LUXEM research in two talks on EUV ultrafast and Deep Learning for Ptychography at CLEO 2024, one of the top International Conferences in Optics, Lasers and Photonics, this year in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA).

Our new research article published in Structural Dynamics

The work “High-resolution ptychographic imaging at a seeded free-electron laser source using OAM beams” stems from the collaboration between DiProI at FERMI Free Electron Laser (FEL), LUXEM, and the Colorado School of Mines. For the first time, we demonstrate the feasibility of single-shot per position ptychography on a nanostructured object at a seeded FEL, using extreme ultraviolet OAM beams of different topological charge orders, generated with spiral zone plates. Congratulations to Dr. Simone Restelli for successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation entitled “Understanding functional properties of spinel oxide nanoparticles and thin films by static and dynamic experimental approaches”!

On March 8th, 2024, Prof. Mancini was a panelist at the conference “Fix the leaky pipeline: experiences of women in science” sponsored by Fondazione Cariplo’s NanoFast project. A great opportunity to reflect about the meaning of scientific method, STEM research, gender equality. Find out more
